Room×Lab Review · Review updated September 29, 2026

Owners of both NORDKISA widths love the bamboo look and quick build, but the stopless, runnerless drawer draws the most complaints

Room×Lab read 581 distinct written reviews on IKEA's U.S. page (583 ratings), from the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia, Japan and Korea, 2019 to 2026. They cover the 15 3/4-inch square model shown and the 23 5/8-inch-wide version, which shares its bamboo frame and runnerless two-way drawer; most name no width, so the star average and most findings cover both. Most are first impressions of assembly, looks and storage; stated ownership runs from a week to four years. Three reviews about a transaction, a headboard and another product were left out. The reviews below show detailed praise, use of a year or more, common drawer complaints and a rarer drawer failure.

Room×Lab rating: 6.8 out of 10 (medium confidence). Owners of both widths praise the bamboo look, easy assembly and bedside storage. The recurring drawback is the stopless, runnerless drawer, which slides out or sticks. A few owners had drawer screws loosen or strip, and the longest use any owner describes is about four years.

  • The stopless two-way drawer divides owners: 26 favorable and 62 critical mentions of the pass-through drawer, across both widths. — Critical accounts describe drawers sliding out, falling or hitting the wall, and one owner questioned use near small children despite the instruction warning. Others value two-sided access for charging cables or CPAP hoses, or live with it by keeping the table against a wall. These counts are mentions, not a share of owners.
  • The runnerless drawer often feels stiff: 6 favorable and 42 critical mentions of how the drawer slides, across both widths. — Owners describe drag, squeaking, scraping and having to lift the drawer to close it; one household had one stiff and one smooth drawer. Owners tried or suggested wax, soap, sliding tape or sanding without reporting measured results; glycerine and screw adjustments did not make the drawer smooth for those who tried them.
  • Assembly is usually quick, with some hardware snags: 233 favorable and 30 critical mentions of assembly, across both widths. — Several owners report 15 to 30 minutes, some building alone. Critical accounts cover drawer screws that stripped or would not grip, misaligned or missing pre-drilled holes, a screwdriver needed but not supplied, a small Allen key and unclear instructions; several are single-unit part problems.

Before buying

Check the 26 3/8-inch height against your mattress top, and plan to keep the table against a wall: the runnerless drawer opens from both sides, can slide out and fall, and often feels stiff.
