Narrow 18-inch owners praise the compact fit and soft-close drawer; across Keane nightstands, build feel splits owners and drawer faults recur

Crate & Barrel's 1,795 ratings cover many Keane pieces, including dressers, beds, armoires, consoles, desks and sets, so that rating is not the nightstands' own. Room×Lab read 1,529 distinct written reviews of Keane nightstands, dated 2016–2026 and mostly written near delivery. Two owners reviewed the shown 18-inch Driftwood narrow listing and several more a Weathered Natural narrow listing. Most reviews concern the larger charging styles (the 32-inch two-drawer, some three-drawer units, older listings) in Driftwood, Natural/Weathered Natural, Wenge/Espresso and Black, so charging, width and many drawer findings apply to those, not the narrow style. The reviews below show the narrow-style owners first, then detailed complaints from charging-style owners.

Room×Lab rating: 6.3 out of 10 (medium confidence). The few narrow 18-inch owners like the compact fit, sturdy feel and smooth soft-close drawer, and Keane nightstand owners praise the clean, modern look. Disputed build quality for the price across the family, finishes that often differ from photos and only early impressions of the narrow style hold the score back.

  • Narrow 18-inch owners: compact fit and solid feel: 9 favorable and 2 critical mentions from owners on the narrow listings. — Two owners bought the shown Driftwood listing, the rest a Weathered Natural narrow listing. They cite small-space fit, a sturdy feel and a smooth soft-close drawer. A shown-listing owner finds storage small but enough for gadgets; another owner found a small defect on the top they blame on the factory. Most are early impressions.
  • Build feel is disputed across Keane nightstands: 14 favorable and 22 critical mentions about weight and construction feel. — Some owners describe heavy, sturdy, well-made units. Others find them light, hollow-sounding or clearly veneer or laminate, and some call that poor value at the price. Critical mentions include poor drawer edge banding and a thin top. Two favorable mentions come from narrow-listing owners; several others concern charging models.
  • Soft-close drawers are praised, but stiffness and faults recur: 17 favorable and 42 critical mentions about drawer action. — Owners, including narrow-listing buyers, praise the soft-close action. Critics say the small knobs are hard to grip and the drawers stiff to open one-handed, or that they stick or won't close. One owner had a slide fail with no parts sold. Several blame sticking on the charging cable. Narrow-listing owners report only smooth action so far.

Before buying

Choose the 18-inch Keane for a compact nightstand with one soft-close drawer and an open shelf; see the Driftwood finish in person, since many Keane owners found finishes differ from photos. Narrow-style owners have so far reported only early impressions.
