Room×Lab Review · Review updated September 27, 2026

Owners of the 23-inch black Linea praise its sturdy build, useful drawer and look; elsewhere in the series, drawers and finishes divide opinion

Crate & Barrel's rating of 522 reviews, recorded on 2026-09-01, covers every Linea size and finish; the product page showed 525 on 2026-09-26. Room×Lab read 457 distinct written reviews, dated 2015 to 2026, of Linea nightstands, bedside tables and matching end tables in current and older versions; each point names its version. Stated use runs from a few months to several years. Reviews only about other furniture or service were left out. Crate & Barrel does not show whether reviewers bought the product or were incentivized. Below, owners of this 23-inch black model come first, then praise after more than a year and two detailed failures from other Linea versions.

Room×Lab rating: 6.7 out of 10 (medium confidence). Owners of the 23-inch black Linea praise its sturdy build, useful drawer and simple style. Across all Linea sizes and finishes, Crate & Barrel's rating is favorable, but reports of binding, ill-fitting or broken drawers and of water-marked natural and older finishes hold the score down.

  • Appearance, storage and bedside fit: 4 favorable and 1 critical mention about appearance, storage and bedside fit. — Owners of this 23-inch black model described useful storage, sturdy construction and appealing style or size. One owner of this model found the tables too low and narrow beside the matching oversized dresser.
  • Drawer construction and operation: 3 favorable and 5 critical mentions; only 2 favorable mentions speak to drawer operation. — An owner of this model said the drawer moved without drag and closed evenly; a shopper who saw it on store display called the drawer flimsy. Across the series, others found drawers binding, hard to reach, poorly fitted or immediately broken, and one 28-inch charging drawer came off its track after about eight months; replacements helped some.
  • Surface care, staining and residue: 4 favorable and 5 critical mentions about surface care, staining and residue. — One owner of this 23-inch black model wiped it clean successfully after a few months. Reports of water marks, finish loss, color changes and residue come from natural-finish or older Linea pieces and may not carry over directly to the current black finish.

Before buying

Compare the 22-inch height and 23-inch width with your bed; one owner found it too low and narrow. On delivery, check drawer, finish and fit; test every port on charging models. Consider anchoring: an older Linea seemed to tip forward unanchored.
