Owners of both colors praise machine washing; some Black & White owners see gray, not black, and some find it thin

Room×Lab read 1,578 distinct written reviews on Ruggable's site. They cover the Buffalo Plaid rug in both Black & White and Blackwatch, and both the earlier two-piece rug-and-pad system and today's one-piece Tufted All-in-One, so every count below spans both colors and both constructions. 1,556 reviews come from verified owners and 49 were marked incentivized; 22 are recent and the other 1,556 older. 1,306 of the 1,578 ratings are five stars.

Room×Lab rating: 8.1 out of 10 (medium confidence). Owners of this Black & White rug and the Blackwatch version average 4.68 stars and praise machine washing most; the main complaints are black that reads gray, stains that stay after washing, and thinness. Multiyear accounts describe the earlier two-piece rug, not today's one-piece version.

  • Care and cleaning: 735 favorable mentions; 82 concerns — Across both colors and both constructions, machine washing was the most praised feature. The 82 concerns cover separate problems: dirt or stains that stayed after cleaning (an entry-hall owner said it kept looking dirty), bubbling during vacuuming, and two-piece covers that took more than one try to align.
  • Color and finish: 107 favorable mentions; 54 concerns — Owners of both colors mostly liked the color, but a recurring group found the black and white closer to charcoal and cream or gray; a mudroom-runner owner wanted a more distinct black and white, and another felt the dark areas were not black enough for the price.
  • Durability: 89 favorable mentions; 29 concerns — Many owners describe the rug holding up to repeated washing in busy homes. A minority report fraying, fading or early wear; one owner said the edge stitching frayed before the first wash.

Before buying

Choose this Black & White rug for machine-washable everyday use if a thin 7 mm pile and a black that a recurring group of owners sees as charcoal or gray suit your room. Check that your washer fits the size you want; returns carry a processing fee.
