Room×Lab Review · Review updated October 15, 2026

Drew Small owners love the comfort and compact swivel, but several describe cushion and seam flaws within months

Crate & Barrel's 356 ratings include Drew Grande ratings and some without written reviews. Room×Lab read 288 distinct written reviews of the Drew Small, dated 2019 to 2026, covering the pictured Ascend Stonewash Blue chair, other fabrics, a striped version and the Small Leather. Almost all came from other Drew Small listings and most do not name the upholstery, so each finding stays with the material its owner names. Reviews of the Drew Grande and Leather Grande, and one titled Tulip Chair, are left out. Few owners state their length of use. Most give five stars; the cards show the pictured listing's review, two on fit and three specific complaints.

Room×Lab rating: 7.2 out of 10 (limited confidence). Owners consistently praise the Drew Small's comfort, compact footprint and smooth swivel. The caveat is durability: several describe cushions that buckled or frayed, split seams or protruding staples within months, and the longest use any owner states is just over six months.

  • Comfortable, with a few overstuffed or stiff seats: Cited: 18 praise comfort, 5 voice reservations (some also praise it). Not totals. — Owners call it very comfortable for reading, TV and working from home, and several call it the household's favorite seat. Reservations are individual: cushions stuffed too tightly, a second chair firmer than the first, a wish for a higher seat with more fill, or stiffness that eased after a short break-in.
  • Compact size suits small rooms, but not every body: Cited: 14 praise the compact size, 4 say it runs small; 11 describe a good fit, 5 a too-small seat. Not totals. — Owners fit pairs beside fireplaces and in bay windows, condos, guest rooms and home offices; a few wanted it larger. People from about 5 feet to 6 feet 6 inches report a comfortable fit, while others find the seat shallow, narrow or tight, and a designer cautions anyone over about 6 feet 2 inches.
  • Cushion and seam problems can appear within months: Cited: 5 cushion complaints vs 5 holding up; 8 workmanship complaints vs 10 praising the build. Not totals or rates. — Reports include padding that compressed or buckled within two months, a cushion fraying within a month, feathers poking out at four months, split or bulging seams, poorly sewn or damaged arrivals and protruding staples, one of which cut an owner. Some pairs had a problem on only one chair, others on both. Some still praise theirs at five to six months.

Before buying

Choose the Drew Small for a compact, smooth swivel; over about 6'2", sit in one first. Check cushions and seams on delivery. Favor dark or easy-clean upholstery: one owner's Cloud Chenille soiled within months; another's aniline leather scratched.
