Across all BRIMNES sizes, owners praise the drawers and headboard storage but report long builds and some support failures

Room×Lab read all 1,198 distinct written reviews IKEA shows for BRIMNES bed frames with storage and headboard, from April 2016 to August 2026. They cover every Full, Queen and King size; black, gray and white finishes; versions with no slatted base or with LURÖY or LÖNSET slats; and some owners outside the US. Counts and ratings below describe the whole BRIMNES range, not the black King alone. Some owners describe seven to nine years of use. 515 reviews carry IKEA's verified-owner flag; none are flagged as incentivized. The reviews below show the most common praise and complaints (storage, assembly, drawer clearance), plus two rarer support failures.

Room×Lab rating: 7.1 out of 10 (medium confidence). Across all BRIMNES sizes and finishes, owners praise the four drawers and headboard shelving. The caveats: long builds, sagging, loose sides, weakened drawers and isolated support failures, plus recurring reports of missing or damaged parts and hard-to-get replacements.

  • Assembly rewards patience: 170 favorable mentions; 207 concerns — Owners often found the instructions workable or liked the finished bed, but many described a long, complex build where mistakes are easy to make and two people help. Counts cover written reviews across all BRIMNES sizes and finishes.
  • Space efficiency depends on clearance: 94 favorable mentions; 88 concerns — Owners praised storage that suits apartments; concerns were blocked drawers, the bed's overall size, mattress height and limits on where the headboard can go against a wall. Counts cover all BRIMNES sizes and finishes.
  • Durability remains the central caveat: 24 favorable mentions; 95 concerns — Owners describe weakened drawers, loose sides, sagging, and isolated support failures: one center support failed on the first day, and one metal beam cracked after seven years of guest-room use. Others report seven to nine years of solid service. Check the center support and drawer fittings periodically.

Before buying

Choose the black King for its four drawers and headboard shelving if you can leave side clearance for the drawers, fix the headboard to your wall and add a slatted base. Plan a long two-person build, and check the center support periodically.
