Room×Lab Review · Review updated August 28, 2026

Lounge chair owners praise a wide, firm seat that can be too deep for shorter sitters; a few Clifton owners report weathered teak

Room×Lab read all 99 distinct written reviews behind Modloft's 100 ratings, dated May 19, 2020 to June 17, 2026. Modloft shows them across the whole Clifton Outdoor collection (lounge chair, sofa, dining chair, coffee table, sectionals); each card names the piece bought. Stated use on the cards runs up to three summers. Every review is four or five stars. Modloft's terms let it monitor, edit or remove comments, and it does not say whether every submission is published, so weigh the 4.91 average with that in mind. Quoted owners are verified buyers and not incentivized unless marked. The cards below show both praise and complaints; five of the six come from lounge-chair owners.

Room×Lab rating: 8.0 out of 10 (medium confidence). Clifton owners praise its comfort and looks, but some find the seat hard or too deep, a few report weathered wood, and Modloft's wider service record is mixed. Modloft shows no review below four stars and may edit or remove comments; this rating covers the Clifton collection.

  • Firm comfort, but a body-dependent fit: 32 favorable comfort mentions, 4 concerns, across all Clifton pieces — Owners often liked the supportive, modern seat. The main caution is its deep profile: one lounge-chair owner found the seat hard and too deep for shorter users to reach the back cushion, and planned to add pillows.
  • Encouraging multi-season wear with wood-care caveats: 10 favorable durability mentions, 4 concerns, across all Clifton pieces — A lounge-chair owner reports no visible wear after three summers, and others describe little wear after several summers. The four concerns are about the wood: fading, mildew, water staining and refinishing. Two came from other Clifton pieces, including a sofa owner whose wood faded and mildewed by its third season outdoors.
  • Simple fabric care, trickier rope detailing: 2 favorable cleaning mentions; 2 concerns — Owners described the fabric and exposed surfaces as manageable, but two owners said dust, leaves or other debris collect in the corded sides.

Before buying

Choose the Clifton lounge chair for a wide, firm seat; shorter sitters may need pillows to reach the back. Clear rope debris, care for the teak, ask Modloft how the warranty treats outdoor wear, and confirm delivery: one owner waited about five months.
