Room×Lab Review · Review updated August 29, 2026

UPPLAND sofa owners, across every cover, split on the firm, deep, high seat; cushions losing support and cover wear are the watchouts

Room×Lab read the 197 distinct written reviews IKEA shows for the three-seat UPPLAND sofa, dated April 2021 through August 2026, including comments from U.S. and Canadian owners. IKEA shows these reviews on every UPPLAND sofa cover and color; frame, cushion and seat comments apply to this Kilanda light-beige sofa, and fabric comments name their cover. Owners write from just after delivery to three to five years of use. UPPLAND loveseat, chair, chaise, sectional and cover-only listings are excluded. The reviews below were picked to show praise and complaints on comfort, fit and cushion life plus a Kilanda cover report, not how common each view is.

Room×Lab rating: 6.3 out of 10 (medium confidence). UPPLAND sofa owners, across every cover, split sharply on the firm, deep, high seat and on cushion life: some cushions held their shape for years while others lost support. Owners value the removable covers and manageable assembly, though cover complaints outnumber praise.

  • Comfort divides sharply by preference: 72 favorable mentions; 49 concerns — Across all 197 reviews of every UPPLAND sofa cover, owners praised firm support and roomy lounging; one owner with a disability valued that it does not sink. Others found it painfully hard or awkwardly angled, with neck and back discomfort, and one owner's delivered sofa felt much firmer than the showroom model.
  • Cushion life splits owners: 18 favorable mentions; 23 concerns — Across all UPPLAND sofa covers, some owners say the cushions held their shape for three to five years. Others report lost seat support, with one owner finding sitting painful after two years, or deflated back cushions and fabric wear. Arm, leg or frame failures appear only in isolated reports.
  • Removable covers help, but cover complaints outnumber praise: 27 favorable mentions; 39 concerns — Across all UPPLAND sofa covers, owners valued being able to clean stains and replace covers, but more of them reported wrinkling and fabric wear, or were frustrated that the seat cushions cannot be flipped.

Before buying

Sit on an UPPLAND before buying if you can, because owners split on the firm, deep, high seat. Owners report the Kilanda cover turning fuzzy within months, the seat cushions cannot be flipped, and IKEA's warranty excludes fabric covers.
