Room×Lab Review · Review updated August 28, 2026

Owners across all three colors split on the Nordby's very firm seat but praise its compact pullout for small rooms

Room×Lab read all 96 distinct written owner reviews behind the 124 ratings of the Nordby 87-inch Sofa Bed, posted February 3, 2021 through June 20, 2026. Article shows the same reviews on the Pep Gray, Henge Gray and Lull Blue versions, so counts and ratings cover all three colors; each owner card names its color. The Nordby 104-inch reversible sleeper sectional is not included. Stated use on the cards runs from one month to past the one-year warranty. We picked one review at each star rating, plus a second five-star review, to show the range of experiences; 102 of the 124 ratings are four or five stars.

Room×Lab rating: 7.4 out of 10 (medium confidence). Architectural Digest's Pep Gray test and owners in all three colors find it easy to convert, but its very firm seat divides owners. Wear reports are few: pilling and backrest sag within a year, a center tear past the warranty; a Lull Blue owner reselling after four to five years had no mechanism trouble.

  • Firmness defines the comfort decision: 45 favorable mentions; 27 concerns — Across all three colors, many owners liked the stable, guest-ready support, while others found the surface hard or shallow and felt tufts, bars or the mechanism through it. Counts come from the 96 written owner reviews; toppers were a recurring fix.
  • Compact-room fit is a consistent strength: 23 favorable mentions; 12 concerns — Owners often praised the 87-inch footprint and wall-hugging pullout for offices, apartments, and basements. Caveats included the narrow seat, low back, limited sleeping length for some adults, and the need to measure doors and stairs.
  • Wear reports are few but serious: 7 favorable mentions; 4 concerns — Favorable accounts describe sturdy mechanisms and upholstery handling children, pets, hair and spills. Concerns include pilling and a sagging backrest within the first year on Lull Blue, cushion deterioration, and a center tear on Pep Gray after light guest-room use, past the one-year warranty.

Before buying

Choose the Nordby 87" for occasional guests if you like a very firm seat and can accept a 72-inch sleep surface whose attached rear edge resists fitted sheets. Measure doors and stairs for the 205-pound frame.
