Compact fit and a heavy, steady base stand out across the Portima range; finish wear is the main caution
Room×Lab read all 411 distinct written reviews on Article’s Portima C Side Table page, dated May 2022 through August 2026. Article shows reviews of walnut, oak and earlier Portima versions together, so the counts and signals on this page cover the whole Portima range. Each owner card says whether the owner bought from the current walnut listing or an earlier walnut version. The cards show two walnut owners’ praise and four owners’ specific complaints about height, assembly hardware and scratches. Complaints are far rarer than praise: 529 of the 577 star ratings are five stars.
Room×Lab rating: 8.2 out of 10 (limited confidence). Walnut owners describe a compact, sturdy table that is easy to assemble, and reviews across the Portima range praise its steady base and sofa-side fit. The caveats are isolated reports across the range of early scratches, split wood, chipped finish, rust and defective hardware.
- Compact-room fit: 128 favorable mentions; 9 concerns — Across the Portima range, owners liked the sofa-side size and laptop-sized top. A few found the 26.5-inch maximum too low, including one owner of an earlier walnut version who returned the table because it sat too low for their sofa or bedroom.
- Steady, substantial base: 103 favorable mentions; 11 concerns — Across the Portima range, owners called the base heavy and stable. The concerns were isolated reports of wobble, leaning, or a top that did not line up with the base at assembly.
- Durability and finish wear: 17 favorable mentions; 11 concerns — Across the Portima range, isolated reports describe early scratches, including one owner of an earlier walnut version who saw several within a month despite coasters, plus split wood, chipped finish, rust and marks from the adjustment hardware.
Before buying
Check the 26.5-inch maximum height against your sofa or bed. Test-fit the top screws as soon as the table arrives: two walnut owners found holes that did not line up or a screw that would not thread. Protect the walnut top from scratches and moisture.
