Room×Lab Review · Review updated September 1, 2026

Owners like the roomy top and floor clearance, but repeatedly report tipping on beds and couches, and others repeatedly find it too tall there

Room×Lab read 103 distinct written reviews from Target's listing for this brown collapsible lap desk, drawn from 278 ratings averaging 3.85 stars. The desk is sold in one version only, so every review is about this item. 92 of the reviews are older and 11 are recent. One owner describes at least a year of couch use. Five reviewers disclosed an incentive in their text. The reviews below show the most common complaint, tipping on beds and couches, alongside the praise owners give most often.

Room×Lab rating: 6.5 out of 10 (limited confidence). Owners of this desk like the roomy top, floor-sitting clearance and the value, but recurring reports of tipping on beds and couches, and of a height too tall for typing there, limit where it works. Construction complaints come up only in isolated reports.

  • Firm floors are safer than soft furniture: 12 favorable stability mentions; 14 concern mentions — Owners repeatedly tie tipping to the rounded legs, shifting their weight, and use on beds and couches; one returned it because even slight movement tipped it. Praise for stability more often comes from owners using it on firm floors or in setups of their own.
  • Generous clearance comes with a fixed-height tradeoff: 19 favorable size-and-fit mentions; 7 concern mentions — Some floor sitters and owners wanting extra thigh clearance liked the height, while other owners repeatedly found it too tall for comfortable typing on a bed or couch; one wished the leg height could be adjusted.
  • Value is a consistent bright spot: 9 favorable value mentions; 2 concerns — Owners who found a setup that suited it called the desk affordable for floor work, temporary workstations, or as a riser for a laptop and keyboard.

Before buying

Choose this desk for floor sitting or another firm, level surface; owners repeatedly report it tipping on beds and couches and sitting too high for typing there. Check both of Target's dimension sets against your setup.
