Castalia owners praise the look, heft and compact size, but many report yellow or uneven tones and some bowed or cracked tops
Room×Lab read all 148 distinct written Target reviews of the single Castalia coffee-table listing, spanning January 2020 through August 2026. Target sells this table in one version with no color or size options, so every review describes the same table. The reviews below pair recent praise with complaints that show the recurring problems: off-color wood, cracks and a bowed top.
Room×Lab rating: 6.6 out of 10 (limited confidence). Castalia owners praise its natural look, heavy build and compact 32-inch size, and many say it looks pricier than it is. The caveats: recurring reports of tones that arrive yellow, orange, gray or darker than pictured, of bowed tops, cracks and chips, and of hard returns for a heavy damaged table.
- Color and finish: 33 favorable mentions; 58 concerns — Owners often liked the rustic neutral look, but others received yellow, orange, green, gray or darker-than-photographed tones. The tone varies from table to table: the earliest review describes conspicuous yellow-toned areas, while a January 2026 owner received a table without them.
- Size and room fit: 31 favorable mentions; 9 concerns — The 32-inch footprint frequently worked well in apartments and smaller seating areas, although some owners thought the table looked much smaller than expected.
- Durability: 12 favorable mentions; 19 concerns — Some owners described a heavy, lasting piece. Concerns in reviews posted over several years included warped tops and bases, cracks, chips, holes and broken components: one tabletop bowed toward the center after several weeks, and another owner repaired cracks at a leg base and on the top.
Before buying
Owners report tones that arrive yellow or darker than pictured, plus bowed tops and cracks across several years, so check color, top and legs on delivery and again over the first weeks. Use coasters: Target lists it as not water-resistant.
