Walnut and Chalk Gray owners find it comfortable and well made, but some owners say the walnut looks redder than photos

Room×Lab read 212 distinct written reviews of the Nosh Counter Stool on Article, posted March 2023 through August 2026, out of 273 ratings averaging 4.83 stars. Article shows the same reviews for every Nosh wood and fabric color, so the counts here cover all colors. Walnut and Chalk Gray owners are named where they appear, and comments on another color's finish may not apply to this one. Few owners say how long they have used their stools. Praise far outnumbers complaints (239 of 273 ratings are five stars). The reviews below were picked to show the main complaints next to praise from two Walnut and Chalk Gray owners.

Room×Lab rating: 8.2 out of 10 (medium confidence). Walnut and Chalk Gray owners call it comfortable and high quality, and owners across all Nosh colors give it 4.83 stars, often praising comfort and sturdiness. The caveats: a shallow-feeling seat and upright back that do not suit everyone, pair-only ordering, and few reports of how it holds up over years.

  • Comfort leads, but seat and back fit are personal: 90 favorable comfort mentions in reviews across all Nosh colors. — Less satisfied owners describe a seat that feels shallow and set back, short back support, firm cushioning and an upright or awkwardly placed back; one owner who bought four found them uncomfortable and hard to return.
  • Finish earns praise but may not match the screen: 51 favorable color-and-finish mentions in reviews across all Nosh colors. — Several owners describe Walnut as redder or more orange than expected, and one Walnut and Chalk Gray owner said Chalk Gray reads closer to linen or beige.
  • Sturdiness is a consistent strength with one arrival exception: 42 favorable stability-and-noise mentions in reviews across all Nosh colors. — Owners call the stools sturdy and stable. The one exception came on arrival: a Walnut and Chalk Gray owner received a stool that rocked and needed doubled floor pads.

Before buying

Check the 26-inch seat height and 17-inch seat depth against your counter and how you sit, because some owners found the upright back uncomfortable. Stools ship only in pairs, and the walnut can look redder than in photos.
